Introduction to Wade fly reels

At Wade Fly Reels we believe in the simple things in life and that philosophy reflects in the design principles behind our fly reels. We set out to produce functional, hard working and elegant fly reels to create a perfect balance between function and form.

The guides at FlyCastaway have pioneered the development of fisheries in the Indian Ocean and Africa. Years spent on the water at the most pristine fisheries on the planet have taught them exactly what is needed in a fly reel. Even though there are some incredible fly reels on the market they always felt that there is room for improvement and more specifically a reel specifically designed with the rigorous demands of the Indian Ocean coral atolls in mind. We relied heavily on the input from this team.

Once the functionalities, dimensions and capacities were specified we added industrial and commercial designers, engravers, laser works and surface coating specialists. Four years down the line we have a range of fly reels that we believe are the best of the best. The reels are aesthetically pleasing and have all the functionalities expected in a modern day fly reel. They have perfect line capacities and size vs. weight ratios. Best of all they are built to last a lifetime, just like the memory of your next trophy fish.
